Meet Jordan

I’m Jordan, a licensed psychologist in Washington. My background is in pediatric and school psychology, so I was trained to think about kids and families inside systems—schools, hospitals, homes, and communities. Over the years, that lens expanded to include young adults and high-pressure professionals who were once those kids, and are now trying to function in demanding environments with the same nervous systems. Much of this change in the people I work with was spurred on by my experience working in hospitals before and during the COVID19 quarantine days and what I witnessed there.

I’ve worked in schools, medical centers, and community mental health, supporting students, parents, teachers, and clinicians with everything from everyday stress to high-acuity situations: ongoing suicidal ideation, self-harm, complex PTSD, psychosis, and personality-related difficulties. I’ve also spent years consulting with communities and schools on trauma-informed practices, behavior systems, and implementation of mental health supports.

Clinically, I’m especially drawn to:

  • Teens and young adults navigating trauma, identity, and suicidal thoughts
  • Queer and gender-diverse youth and adults who’ve had to hold a lot on their own
  • Men and professionals who are done pretending everything’s fine
  • Families and schools trying to understand and support kids with ADHD and other neurodevelopmental differences

On the assessment side, I provide ADHD and learning evaluations for youth that go beyond symptom checklists. I will look at your story, your environment, and your strengths to see what sense we can make.

I aim to bring competence, honesty, and a real human presence into the room. I myself have been around the block a time or two and have been “the patient” before; I understand what it is like to walk into a new space and shed your layers. My job is not to stand outside your life and judge it; it’s to sit next to you while we figure out what’s happening and what can change.

My Therapy Practice

The state of psychological practice in Western societies is in an odd place. There is incredible variety in the number of mental health professions and credentials, and an even greater variety in therapies. Trained as a Licensed Psychologist, I do believe in my ethical duty to use ONLY evidence-based therapies. Many, but not all, therapies meet this requirement and those that do often target the same underlying psychological experiences. In other words, they “look” different and have different names but do the same thing. I only receiving training in and use therapies that fall into this category–have significant evidence supporting their use, and target similar psychological experiences. This allows me to tailor therapy to the client, such as adjusting for trauma or cultural values and needs, while also maintaining a high standard of practice.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT; my primary method)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (and Radically-open DBT)
  • Eye Movement Densitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Existential Therapy
  • Family Systems Therapy
  • Internal Family Systems
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Solution-focused
  • Trauma-focused CBT

I think part of my strength comes from the variety of experiences and interests I have. I have lived through some wild experiences born of struggle and strife, and I have had the pleasure of growing beyond them. With that comes privileges and interests I deeply cherish–you can find me at any live music show, DJing or playing guitar at local events, dancing around Seattle and in competitions nationwide, climbing nearby rocks, summiting peaks, running with my partner, reading for growth or pleasure, and hosting a myriad of events for my friends and community members. Living with and for the people around me is my greatest joy.
